CHAPTER 15

“Wanna go to Strap party?” I read aloud the text message from Kenn. I had seen him briefly when he got back into town, but we hadn’t gone out.

“What?” Mr. B called

“Oh, nothing, sorry Mr. B. I was just talking to myself.”

I queried him for further detail and soon heard back—the Strap was having its pre-Thanksgiving party tomorrow.

The annual event was like a winter sale and customer appreciation event all in one. I had gone to one several years back, but had never felt the need to go to another.

“Sure, why not,” I shot back. I didn’t really feel like going to a party. I felt tired from looking at paperwork, helping clients, and entering numbers into the computer. I would have preferred a hike or a quiet outing.

The party was tomorrow. After rubbing my eyes and taking a deep breath, I returned to the files on my desk.
